Where Nature Inspires Design
Helping nature by creating biodiverse landscapes
About Us
A True Passion for Native Plants
Red Trillium Restoration is a small native plant nursery and landscape design company dedicated to the restoration of local ecosystems. Located in the Ottawa Valley we are focused on ecosystems occurring within the Mixedwood Plains Ecozone of Ontario. We provide a landscaping option to those interested in increasing biodiversity. This is done primarily by including native species in garden designs. There are beautiful plants capable of supporting a wide range of biodiversity and they have adapted over thousands of years to the conditions found in our area.

The Ecological Landscape
At Red Trillium Restoration we are dedicated to ensuring you can have a lasting positive effect on the biodiversity of your surroundings. Together we can create and restore local ecosystems by incorporating native plants into garden design. We can tackle causes of ecological damage, degradation, and destruction with proven ecological restoration techniques.
Our Services Include
Ecological Restoration
Ecological restoration is the applied science of returning degraded ecosystems back to a functional system. There are many restoration techniques that can be employed to achieve the goal of assisting the recovery of ecosystems and it is often the cause of degradation that determines which is appropriate. By restoring local ecosystems we can recover ecosystem services which have been damaged or lost. Ecosystem services such as the water storage and filtration that naturally occurs in wetlands directly benefit our wellbeing and provide habitat for local and migrating species.

Private Land Stewardship
If you own more than 4 Ha of forested land in Ontario and plan to conserve it you are eligible for a Managed Forest Plan saving you up to 75% on the property tax of this area. The Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program (MFTIP) encourages good forest management and stewardship. The plan includes a full breakdown of each distinct upland and lowland ecosystem on your property including trees, plants, fungi, and wildlife as well as outlines the stewardship goals and objectives of the landowner.

Our Philosophy
Celebrating Nature's Wisdom
At Red Trillium Restoration, we are guided by nature. We study reference ecosystems and are inspired by the combinations of plants that naturally occur with each other. Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that by embracing native plants and ecosystems, we can create landscapes that not only honor native species and ecology but also inspire a deeper connection to the natural world. We strive to educate and empower others to join us in our mission to cultivate sustainable, biodiverse gardens that stand the test of time and provide a lasting positive effect on the ecosystems the surround us.
